THINK 14 in the Big Easy Less Than Two Weeks Away

Bill PrichardComment

The THINK Conference, taking place May 19-22 at the Sheraton New Orleans in the Big Easy, kicks off in less than two weeks. It’s well on its way to record attendance in 2014, but there’s room for more! Credit union employees can register immediately at for $799.

If you can’t attend, there will be several outlets by which you can follow the event virtually minute by minute. Updates will be posted on CO-OP Financial Services’ own Insight Vault blog at Tweets can be followed at In fact, we are encouraging conference attendees to share insights using the hashtag #COOPTHINK—so anyone can search for #COOPTHINK via Twitter to see what attendees are talking about. You can also track the conference via Facebook at!/COOPFSTHINK.

And, we would be remiss if we didn’t also remind you to check in regularly at as Tim McAlpine will be joining us this year.

THINK was created in 2008 to take a non-traditional approach to an industry conference. Instead of credit union leaders and enthusiasts talking to each other – why not reach outside the industry, for world-renowned thinkers in marketing, management and other disciplines, and see if they can offer a fresh approach to vexing issues within the movement? The result is what has been called the “credit union industry’s best non-credit union conference,” with speakers such as Steve Wozniack of Apple, Tony Hsieh of and even skateboarder and entrepreneur Tony Hawk annually putting in appearances.

It’s the same this year with Mark Thompson, Gary Vaynerchuk and Randi Zuckerberg among the featured speakers. They will be taking as their theme “It Starts With You” and tackle issues that everyone who works at a credit union can take a part in solving.

The conference also, in fact, calls on the wisdom of our own movement’s leadership, as will be on display May 21 in our “Evolution Sessions.” Industry leaders such as Shazia Manus of The Members Group, Brian Bodell of Finivation and GiGi Hyland of National Credit Union Foundation will be participating among the four sessions that afternoon.

The conference will also feature a series of enjoyable charity events to choose from on both Monday morning (May 19) and Thursday afternoon (May 22). All proceeds will go to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Finally, this year’s $10,000 CO-OP THINK Prize, sponsored by MasterCard, has been narrowed down to three outstanding finalists. We will find out who the winner is at our final general session meeting Thursday morning.

CO-OP Financial Services exists to partner with credit unions to help them prosper. This conference is a key part of that commitment to you. We hope to see you there – or join us on-line, and start making your plans for 2015.
